‘RUDE AWAKENING’ By Talkspen Rude awakening is a phrase I got from the famous speech of 1963, “I have a dream…” by Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr. over the discrimination and segregation against the Black-Americans. Though it sound vulgar-like, but it is not. The meaning is the irony of it sound. Awakening means stirring up someone from sleep; an act of becoming suddenly aware of something while rude awakening is used politically to describe the sudden change or awareness created by the people to show their dissatisfaction with unpleasant and unfitting dispositions of the government towards them; such awakening stirs up the government, making it active and alive again to its responsibilities.
