‘RUDE AWAKENING’

Rude awakening is a phrase I got from the famous speech of 1963, “I have a dream…” by Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr. over the discrimination and segregation against the Black-Americans. Though it sound vulgar-like, but it is not. The meaning is the irony of it sound.
Awakening means stirring up someone from sleep; an act of becoming suddenly aware of something while rude awakening is used politically to describe the sudden change or awareness created by the people to show their dissatisfaction with unpleasant and unfitting dispositions of the government towards them; such awakening stirs up the government, making it active and alive again to its responsibilities. The word ‘rude’ in the phrase, shows the high degree of alacrity in the awakening process. This process is what I refer to as the ‘legal revolt’.
Here is an excerpt from the declaration of independence and the constitution of the United States of America pointing out what government really is, and what should be done when its fail in its primary responsibility. I quoted it because Nigeria blindly copied their democratic system of government!
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Right.... —That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, —That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Of a truth, when a government become insensitive to the yearnings of the governed, rude awakening is what such government needs from the people. It is their right to do so, not with or through violence but through legal revolt to institute an out of bed; a widely awakened government.
The 2019 general elections will the time for us to give this insensitive government a rude awakening for their failure to meet up with their then attractive campaign promises among several other occurrences that showed their incompetence, and much more now that they are beclouded with massive reputation in corruption which to the eyes is glaring enough. A new government ought to be formed!
The only way to cause this revolt is through our Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). This is our alteration weapon; the only tool that can start and complete the rude awakening process. So, get out of the home, school, beach, office, and bar to get yours today and let’s do the rude awakening together. For it will be obvious for us to keep the clueless administration ever in Nigeria in power any longer.
Enough of their economic incapability, shattering national security, stomach infrastructure policies and programs , one sided fighting of corruption, lack of leadership grit to handle loopholes in ministries, agencies and department of the government, inability to convict just one out of the many national thief’s, inability to effect change in the electricity industry as promised, inability to improve standard of living and working conditions of workers, inability to curb incessant workers strikes among many others.
So therefore, what shall we do for the young girl, if on the day of her wedding we discover she has no breasts? Shall we continue with the marriage or get another wife? I guess you have the appropriate answer now. Let the rude awakening process begin now.
